The Ovines return with “Waiting Room”, the first single from their forthcoming debut album, ‘London Reign’, and the opening chapter in a bold new body of work from the Southeast London band.
Driven by restless energy, sharp observation and the band’s instinctive fusion of alternative rock, indie and post-punk attitude, “Waiting Room” introduces listeners to the distinctive world of ‘London Reign’: a city populated by outsiders, damaged romantics, restless characters and people searching for somewhere to belong.
This is not a polished postcard version of London. It is noisy, contradictory, darkly funny, unforgiving and, in unexpected moments, beautiful.
At the heart of the album campaign sits a simple declaration:
“We belong here”
For The Ovines, those words are not the title of the record, but the attitude behind it.
The band have never been interested in waiting for permission, following the accepted route or quietly taking their place at the back of the queue. Their songs are about the people who turn up anyway: those who make their own space, form their own communities and refuse to disappear.
“Waiting Room” captures the tension immediately before that declaration — the feeling of being suspended between movement and paralysis, waiting for an opportunity, an invitation or a door to open while life continues around you.

“We felt ‘Waiting Room’ was the right place to begin. It captures the energy of the band, but it also has that feeling of being stuck somewhere between where you have been and where you are trying to get to.
“That sense runs through a lot of the album. The record has humour, chaos, characters and some more reflective moments, but ‘Waiting Room’ felt like the natural first step into that world.
“At the heart of it all is the idea that we belong here. We are not waiting for somebody else to give us permission or make room for us. Sometimes you have to turn up, plug in and create that space for yourself.”
